Matanuska-Sustina Borough Assembly and Mayor

The Mat Su Borough Assembly is a legislative body of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough in Alaska and is comprised of seven members elected from districts for staggered three-year terms for no more than two consecutive full terms. The Assembly approves the budget, sets the mill rate for taxation, appropriates funds to provide for Borough services, and establishes policy which is executed by the administration.

The Mat-Su Democrats strongly supports candidates for the Mat Su Borough Assembly that will ensure the highest quality of life for all citizens in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. We believe that the Assembly should focus on the issues of public health, safety, residential rights, environmental stewardship, recreational opportunities, and economic development that are so important to the borough's residents.

 

The Mat Su Assembly holds public meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month in the Assembly Chambers of the Borough Building at 350 E. Dahlia Ave., Palmer, AK 99645. Matanuska-Sustina Borough School District Board 

The Mat-Su Borough School District Board is made up of seven members, elected to staggered three-year terms. The board members are involved in the development of educational and financial policies, the appointment of the superintendent and other key personnel, and the approval of the district’s budget. The board also oversees the development of curriculum and programs, as well as the facilities and technology used in the district. The Mat-Su Borough School District Board is an important part of our community, and the Mat-Su Democrats strongly support their efforts in providing an inclusive learning environment.

We believe in inclusivity and stand with those who strive to create a safe and supportive learning environment for all. We are committed to fighting for the rights of all students, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. We understand the importance of protecting LGBTQ students, and we are dedicated to making sure their rights are respected and protected. 

The School Board has regular meetings the first and third Wednesday of each month.
